Whitney Johnson, MD MS

USC + LAC

San Diego, CA

Whitney Johnson, MD, MS is currently a medical editing fellow with EM:RAP at the University of Southern California-LA County Emergency Medicine program. She completed her emergency medicine residency training at the University of California, San Francisco-Fresno Emergency Medicine Program (UCSF-Fresno) in July 2020. She chose Emergency Medicine because of the acuity, the unpredictability, and her belief that it is the all-encompassing specialty — “anyone, any place, any time.” Being a physician with both the USC+LAC and UCSF-Fresno emergency medicine programs has been an especially meaningful and humbling experience to her because she enjoys being amidst a community of physicians with diverse medical interests, dynamic skills, and strong work ethic, as well as having the opportunity to work with an underserved and equally diverse patient population.

Prior to medical school, Whitney established leadership skills as a lifelong athlete, including being an NCAA collegiate student-athlete and captain of a 5-time championship Track & Field team. She now hopes to use those skills to develop a foundation and assume a leadership role in promoting and improving health equity, diversity, and inclusion within the medical field.

Her interests within EM are also quite diverse including, but not limited to, sports medicine (combat sports), medical editing, and ED operations. Whitney’s goal is to make a lasting contribution to the EM community and medical education.
