Cristina was born and raised in Stockton, part of California’s Central Valley. As a first generation college student, she attended UC Berkeley and received her undergraduate degree in Social Welfare. Cristina later attended medical school at UC Irvine where she was part of the Program in Medical Education for the Latino Community (PRIME-LC). She was trained to be a physician advocate and leader to serve the Latino community while earning her M.D. and a Master’s of Science in Biomedical and Translational Science. She completed Pediatric Residency at Valley Children’s Hospital. Cristina is currently serving as Chief Resident. She is passionate about working with underserved communities, diversity and inclusion in medicine, mentorship, pipeline programs to medical school, primary care and preventative medicine. In her spare time, Cristina enjoys traveling with her fiancé, exploring the outdoors especially National Parks, hiking, kayaking, swimming, dancing, playing with her nieces and nephew, and spending time with her family.
