Impact Story: Gina Robinson
2021-22 Health Equity Scholar
General Pediatrics Physician at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital, Cleveland, OH
Project: Health Equity curriculum design within the pediatric residency program at her institution, which is ongoing. This curriculum was newly instituted at Cleveland Clinic Children’s following the completion of the HES Program and was recognized by her colleagues as a curriculum to address gaps in programming/education among medical staff.
In 2022-23, Gina organized and completed three lectures within her residency program centered on the history of racism in medicine and health equity topics and will continue to create an advocacy curriculum in the coming years.
She also plans to develop lectures and training that focus on topics related to environmental and behavioral health in the future.
At her institution, Gina has collaborated with other faculty members and at least one colleague supporting the advocacy curriculum to continue development of this health equity curriculum.
Gina’s public narrative training allowed her to connect more deeply within committees that she participates in and expressed that “[public narrative] was an excellent skill to have learned”.
Her long-term goal in this area of work is to communicate and share the principles of this health equity education to colleagues in other departments at her institution, including those in Primary Care.
